IXP makes shortlist after entering category for first time

Following our success at the Global Carrier Awards 2017, where we won Best Internet Exchange Innovation, we decided to enter the Best Internet Exchange category at this year’s awards.

It was the first time we had ever entered this most prestigious category and we were delighted when it was announced that we had made the shortlist. This meant the judging panel of industry experts, telecoms analysts and the senior editorial team of Capacity magazine all recognized our achievement of becoming the fourth largest member-led Internet exchange in Europe.

A big congratulations to all the winners. Although we didn’t win the category on the night, we are still very proud that our major accomplishment of achieving a true sense of community as a member-driven Internet Exchange, has been recognised by our industry.

Building a community usually takes many years of business activity, network deployment, service management, customer support, employee development, external partnerships and financial management. We have become a 400-member strong, non-profit IXP community that is both member-led and member-driven, in just eight years.

A community starts when people share the same interests and values. Through this, trust is established and grows. Without trust, we cannot innovate, experiment or take risks. To peer at France-IX, every member needs to trust the exchange itself and all the other connected members.

For our members, the impact goes beyond purely providing peering connectivity. France-IX also brings countries, regions, people and businesses together on a social level. Each member is not just buying access to a switching platform, it becomes a part of something bigger, our community.

We would like to thank not only the judges for their support and encouragement but also all our members, who comprise the France-IX community and are the reason we strive hard to deliver technical excellence along with innovative solutions to add value to membership.
